Pharmacist John Simonian joined hundreds of members of his union protesting outside the hospital.
“Force is not the answer, and mandate forcing people at the barrel of a gun is not right,” Simonian said.
Simonian has been a pharmacist with the hospital for 35 years. He said the hospital’s mandate that all employees get vaccinated is a slippery slope.
“If you force to do one thing in one area, there’s a possibility you can force me to do something in another area,” Simonian said.

Boston College helped football player who refused to get COVID-19 vaccine to transfer

Although Boston College head football coach Jeff Hafley says his entire football team and staff has received the COVID-19 vaccine, he did help a player, who refused to get the shot, transfer out of his program.
Hafley did not name the player who transferred. The school is mandating that its student population get vaccinated before showing up for the fall semester or participating in athletics.
“I never gave my opinion about it. I just said, ‘This is the school rule,’ ” Hafley said, according to ESPN.com. “If you don’t want to get it, I’ll support you. We had one player who didn’t want to get it, and we helped find him a new home.”

A new poll shows that most Americans who haven’t been vaccinated against the coronavirus say they are unlikely to get the shots. About 16% say they probably will get the vaccine.
Most also doubt they would work against the aggressive delta variant, despite evidence they do. Those findings underscore the challenges facing public health officials as soaring infections in some states threaten to overwhelm hospitals.
The poll conducted by The Associated Press-NORC Center for Public Affairs Research found 35% of adults who have not yet received a vaccine say they probably will not, and 45% say they definitely will not.
That means “that there will be more preventable cases, more preventable hospitalizations and more preventable deaths,” said Dr. Amesh Adalja, an infectious disease specialist at Johns Hopkins University.
