Johnson & Johnson expects to make $2.5 billion in global sales for 2021 from its single-dose Wuhan coronavirus (COVID-19) vaccine. The American firm’s July 21 remarks come following the release of its second-quarter earnings for the year – with favorable numbers. The projection follows concerns over its vaccine’s effectiveness against more infectious coronavirus strains.

The company reported earnings and revenue that surpassed Wall Street expectations during a July 21 earnings call. It recorded second-quarter earnings of $23.31 billion vis-à-vis its expected earnings of $22.21 billion. Its adjusted earnings per share (EPS) at $2.48 per share also surpassed previous projections of $2.27 per share.
