Never in modern medicine have we ever considered mass vaccination of children with an investigational biologic product that has no proven efficacy or safety. The COVID-19 pandemic has created so much fear, isolation, suffering, hospitalization, and death over the past year. A contagion of neurosis has set in on American doctors and our healthcare providers.
Major medical centers and community hospitals were so fearful that they never attempted to treat outpatients and families that fell ill with COVID-19. Fortunately, independent practices picked up where the ivory tower failed and cared for millions of Americans, helping them avoid hospitalization and death.
The American Association of Physicians and Surgeons and the Front-Line Critical Care Consortium became the two major sources of medical leadership during the pandemic, which is clearly on the way out. Children were largely spared from the crisis with self-limited syndromes that required no treatment and minimal time away from activities.
